Checked in late around 11.30pm and asked if we can check out a little late the receptionist refused even though it was boxing day next morning and they were not busy
Room condition to improve. Specially washrooms and lighting.

This is a lovely hotel in a great location with a superb team in the forefront of the operation.
The hotel can be found on the banks of the Great Ouse River with some stunning views of the town and countryside beyond.
I found the hotel’s team to be exceptional providing tremendously professional, friendly, efficient customer service and hospitality throughout my stay and always striving to ‘go that extra mile’ to assist guests have the finest stay possible.
I stayed in a superior room which was larger than the average UK hotel room and was superbly decorated and presented together with being well maintained.
The room benefited from a superb modern large screen television, the Wi-Fi was fast and reliable, the rooms easy chair was extremely comfortable and a great desk to work at and to enjoy a coffee made in the rooms nespresso machine.
The en-suite bathroom was modern in décor, the shower was powerful and the towels fluffy with some lovely complementary toiletries.
The bar provided guests with a wide selection of drinks including some local craft ales.
The only disappointing aspect of the stay for me was the eat as much as you like buffet breakfast, the cold buffet selection was very limited for a Mercure hotel, and the hot buffet was in places very good including the scrambled eggs and sausages yet the bacon was overcooked and cold as were the mushrooms and hash browns with staff doing nothing to resolve the issue as they said it was out of their hands.
The Mercure Bedford Central is a wonderful hotel and I highly recommend this brilliant hotel to all.
Poorly run hotel. Customer service is poor. Not even a smile on check-in. Room wasn’t ready, pre-arranged crib wasn’t in the room. First crib was broken. TV didn’t work.

overall we were really pleased with this hotel. had a suite as were staying with our kids so had a large bed and a sofa bed.
sofa bed wasn't the comfiest but room was clean and tidy and well kitted out.
breakfast was lovely and location was perfect for us. main issue was fire alarm going off twice over night which woke us and the children up and upset our 4 year old.
apparently it was due to people smoking in rooms. staff were apologetic but being woken at 3am was rather frustrating.

I had an unexpected visit at the hotel late on a Saturday night. Booked through booking.com.
I really enjoyed my stay.
Room service was pizza, so decided to walk into town for a late night snack Pepe's was open after midnight.
Bedford is on the river Ouze as is the hotel. Looked nothing special from the outside. 70's build, but had been modernised inside to a very competitive standard. Very comfy massive bed, clean towels and a really great double size rain shower.
The room was spotlessly clean and the staff I met were professional and friendly.
Parking was at the rear of the hotel and priced at £5. As it was a third party company.
The hotel is right on the river, But high up, so no risk of flooding. The town is just over the bridge, and very easy to walk to. The river and parks surrounding are also beautiful and in the summer time would be a fantastic place to be, picnic, walk or run. Swans sail on the river and tow paths mean you can walk alongside.
I didn't eat at the hotel but saw the modern dining room (Revel) which was located on the first floor.
There was a bar and much modern communal seating. The hotel gave a very comfortable relaxed stay. Check out was 12 and there were working lifts to assist moving around.
There are huge stairs to the front of the property. The rear has a ramp, wide entrance and lifts to the upper floors.
I would definitely revisit this hotel and met others there whom had visited many times.
It felt like I was on a city break.
Bedford has class and areas not so. It's a real hotchpot of characters, architecture and different cultures but, somehow maintains it's English charm.
It's on the Thameslink train line from London and Luton airport.
It was really good value for money, had great views and high standards.
Tea and coffee was also present in the room. As was aircon and heating.
