Being in the heart of the town centre, Mercure Bedford Centre Hotel is the perfect option for guests who wish to explore the town or are visiting on business. The hotel has a view of the river Great Ouse. The hotel also has the Riverside Restaurant and Bar, as well as being easy assessable to drive if our guests prefer to travel by train the hotel is also a stones throw away from Bedford train station.

Stayed one night (Sunday) in July. The hotel overlooks the river and the town and our room (808) had good views of both. The bar and restaurant are pleasant spaces and parking was easy, right behind the hotel. Our room had one broken window, taped up, so couldn't be opened. The shower cold water tap didn't work, and the toilet cistern leaked to the extent that by morning there was a small lake extending to the bathroom door (had we been staying more than one night I'd have asked to move room - we reported issues on checkout). The room otherwise was spacious and the bed was comfortable. Breakfast was ok, although many of the items had run out by the time we arrived (09:30) and weren't being replaced.

Rooms are nice and clean. The outside of the windows have not been cleaned in years. Air con in room sounds like a wounded helicopter. You won't sleep a wink with the air con on. Bar service is good. Breakfast is very average .

Scarce customer attention with bad consequences on the customer The staff registered our vechicle in a wrong way and we received then 2 fines 60£ each + 60£ of administration fee due to unregistered vehicle in the parking area. After 8emails, we have obtained NO REFUND because not in the regular internal procedure. Unbelievable from an international chain. I do not suggest this hotel mainly because of this and in particular for the attention to the customer.
