Very disappointed. We recommended this hotel to our relatives who were visiting from Canada. There was no drinking water in the room, no fridge and very minimal care from staff. We asked for some water and the lady got us glasses so we can use the tap water! The least that we would expect from a hotel room is to have a fridge!! We went to tesco to buy water which was warm seeing as we had no fridge! We will not recommend this place again!
Excellent location on banks of river within walking distance of town centre. Breakfast average. Room a bit dated and small but generally reasonable value.

We have stayed at this hotel several times and have always received excellent service from the staff.
On our latest visit the reception staff engaged wonderfully and assisted us enormously. Thimeshi, Svetla and Remalia all played their part and made our stay a thoroughly enjoyable one.
Air conditioning dripping room 805. Old problem judging by the stains on carpet. Reported but nothing done. Room needs refurb bathroom very dated!!

Stayed here which is right beside the river Ouse in a great location for Bars, walks and Restaurants.The hotel was everything we needed comfortable if not huge room , very clean great shower and had tea / coffee / tv etc nice bar area and the receptionist Remalia and Elizabeth were just lovely and really helpful about the local area. Despite exterior appearances this hotel was an excellent option for an overnight stay. Modern reception and bar and restaurant overlooking the river. Rooms nicely decorated. Adam, the Restaurant Manager was extremely helpful, as was Thimishi, who warmly welcomed us at reception.
Upon check in we were not informed about payment for the car park and therefore got slapped with a £100 fine. I emailed the hotel and the just said “there is a sign in the car park”. Is it not common courtesy to mention this to guests during check in and ask if they need to pay for parking? Nice way to treat guests

You made my group booking process really easy and answered all my questions professionally.
My entire group had nothing but good things to say about Mercure Bedford and everyone said the beds were to die for and so divine to sleep in.
We loved the setting and proximity to the town centre and beautiful views from the riverside rooms. Unsure how I ended up with the smallest room but even then the rooms provided all the room and facilities needed to make the stay comfortable.
Great walks were taken along the riverside and we frequented some local restaurants too.
Your reception team provided very useful information about breakfast and advised which periods were busy, however my group went across the entire breakfast hours and none mentioned any long waits. It was all very leisurely not to mention tasty with plenty of choices.
The staff generally couldn’t do enough to help and assist us and a credit to Mercure Bedford.

I made a booking using 10,000 points as a Gold member, and while the check-in process was smooth and the room itself was satisfactory, my overall experience was disappointing due to unmet expectations and poor service follow-through.
On the morning of my arrival, I called ahead to inform the hotel of my late check-in and to specifically request an iron and ironing board in the room upon arrival. I was assured that while the room did not come with these items by default, they would be placed in the room before I arrived.
I checked in at 12:00am, only to find that there was no iron or ironing board in the room. I went to reception, they said they would bring one up shortly. After waiting for 20 minutes, a staff member arrived and apologized, stating that no irons or ironing boards were available at all.
This was extremely frustrating, especially considering I had a very early check-out at 5:30am. The purpose of calling in advance was to avoid exactly this situation. Unfortunately, the lack of follow-through on a simple request significantly impacted the quality of my stay.
As a loyal Accor Gold member, I expect better service and attention to requests made in good time.
