Food was good, not great, but good enough. The service was a little all over the place though, some pleasant waiters and waitresses, but small errors just added up: the table wasn’t ready on arrival, the staff weren’t overly welcoming, not enough seats at our table for our eight guests, which I had to locate myself, and they didn’t provide crackling with our dinner despite it being on the menu, and decided not to warn us of us that before we all ordered the pork roast. A decent roast but you need to polish up on your service!

Top notch food. And country classics such as wood pigeon and wild mushrooms - splendid.

This place is one of our favourites, it’s always been great , however it’s been taken over and it’s now EVEN better !!! Food has been stepped up and Menu . We have eaten here Xmas eve and week Sunday ago and it was excellent from service , drinks and food .
Shout out to our waiter Samuel what a polite friendly efficient server , made it all the more enjoyable thank you Samuel .
I can’t recommend this place highly enough although in a way I don’t want to incase it gets booked up and we can’t get in !!!
Bedford Arms you are the best thank u
Unfortunately my experience here was tainted by poor food. I ordered pigeon starter, which was tough but actually tasted nice. For mains I had beef short rib, which wasn't cooked where it should have been falling off the bone, parts were quite chewy. My mash potato was the most disappointing thing, it was dry and tasteless, it genuinely felt like it had been sitting out for a very long time or reheated from the day before. My partner had chicken goujons which were extremely salty. Her fish and chips main were just as salty, and all this fed back to the waiting staff, who were actually the saving grace for this experience. I won't be returning in a hurry. What a shame, as the pub itself is quaint and inviting. The price for the food was nowhere near worth it though.

Went there for Sunday lunch most enjoyable, staff very nice and friendly
Booked lunch there online for week before Christmas. When we arrived we noticed some tables had Christmas crackers and terrine menu.
Asked if we could have the same but told it is only available for those who had pre- booked.
Presumably customers who were telepathic as there was no mention of this option when we booked.
How were you supposed to know this was an option?
Why is it not on the booking website?
Left a bad taste
Shame as we are Oakley residents and have been customers there for over forty years.

Went here for a Christmas lunch with a group. Food was good but some tweaks would make it better. Prawn cocktail was a bit watery. Beef and assorted veg was very tasty but roast potatoes were hard. Cheesecake was ight and delicious.
£11.00 for a single shot of Glen Morangie whiskey no mixer nothing added is expensive. It's £30.00 a bottle, quite a mark up
