A friend recommended it, and we were very impressed - really good food, very good service, loads of space.

Sunday Lunch - once we had worked our way through the unbelievably complicated menu, where the price varied according to the colour of the print, we had two roast dinners. The beef was ok but the pork a bit tough. Served with loads of potatoes but not much other veg. Sticky toffee pudding was lovely but served with the tiniest portion of ice cream I’ve ever seen. The service was quick and attentive and the experience was ok. A long way though from my definition of the ‘gastro’ pub!

Country pub with a nice atmosphere. Nice food and attentive staff. When it is going to be warmer I will visit again and sit in the garden. Convenient parking, good menu and good choice of wine/beer. If you visit on a nice day there are also plenty of nice walks around. I recommend booking to save your favourite spot.
I was very disappointed with the Sunday roast on 16 March. Two of us had to send the meal back as it was cold when served. It came back slightly hotter but on a stone cold plate. So before we could eat, it very quickly became cold again. The beef was very stringy and quite tasteless. The vegetables were just mushy and rather thrown on the plate after it came back and I suspect the kitchen was very busy at this time. I mentioned my disappointment at the time of paying but no one came to chat to me about it. I should mention the another person with me had a perfectly satisfactory meal and perhaps I was just unlucky in getting the scrag end of the beef and mushy vegetables. Never the less I will not be eating there again. The serving staff were lovely and friendly.

Food was good, not great, but good enough. The service was a little all over the place though, some pleasant waiters and waitresses, but small errors just added up: the table wasn’t ready on arrival, the staff weren’t overly welcoming, not enough seats at our table for our eight guests, which I had to locate myself, and they didn’t provide crackling with our dinner despite it being on the menu, and decided not to warn us of us that before we all ordered the pork roast. A decent roast but you need to polish up on your service!

Top notch food. And country classics such as wood pigeon and wild mushrooms - splendid.

Bedford Arms you are the best thank u
Unfortunately my experience here was tainted by poor food. I ordered pigeon starter, which was tough but actually tasted nice. For mains I had beef short rib, which wasn't cooked where it should have been falling off the bone, parts were quite chewy. My mash potato was the most disappointing thing, it was dry and tasteless, it genuinely felt like it had been sitting out for a very long time or reheated from the day before. My partner had chicken goujons which were extremely salty. Her fish and chips main were just as salty, and all this fed back to the waiting staff, who were actually the saving grace for this experience. I won't be returning in a hurry. What a shame, as the pub itself is quaint and inviting. The price for the food was nowhere near worth it though.
