Amazing good for incredible value. Very authentic south Indian food. Their Dosa's are the best around!

We have been to this restaurant 3 times, each experience was good, friendly staff, prices reasonable .
I loved the Dosa,it was so
crispy and freshly made ...my only dislike is the music!! A bit loud at times so I have to ask the volume to be lowered. All the meals we had were enjoyable and my friends and family were all happy with the food .
I will be going back again soon.
Disappointing Experience for a Keralite Expecting Authenticity
As someone from Kerala living in the UK, I visited The Cochin Indian Restaurant hoping for an authentic Kerala culinary experience. Unfortunately, it fell far short of expectations.
To begin with, they didn’t have Kerala Parotta or beef on the menu—key staples in Kerala cuisine. When I asked, I was told it’s due to “delivery issues,” which was disappointing for a place branding itself as a Kerala restaurant.
I ordered the Avoli Pollichathu, expecting the traditional preparation with avoli (pomfret). Instead, what I got was sea bass—not the same fish. Being familiar with both, I can confidently say this wasn’t just a variation—it was a substitution without transparency. While the presentation was good and the ambiance pleasant, the food itself had a distinct North Indian taste, which is not what you’d expect from a Kerala-themed restaurant.
The service also left much to be desired. The staff member who served us spoke uncomfortably loud and seemed to lack knowledge about Kerala cuisine. This, along with the chef’s apparent lack of familiarity with authentic Kerala flavors, made the experience feel inauthentic and frustrating.
Additionally, the toilet area could be better maintained—cleanliness matters.
To be fair, it could have just been an off day, and others might have a different experience. But as a Keralite, this visit was a letdown.
Had organised a musical even at the Cochin restaurant Bedford. It was a set menu. We were around 24 people. I had booked this two weeks before. But on the day the chef said that they don't have the samosa chat (that was supposed to be the starters for the vegetarians). They served some other starters instead. The food was not up to the standard. The veg korma gravy was very thin and hardly any vegetables in it. The chickpeas and korma tasted the same as same gravy was used. No rotis or parathas ( bread) was served...which we had asked for. The appam served was sweet :(.. Disappointed this time for sure.

Great place with excellent Keralan food. Very nice staff and highly recommended for the Masala Dosa (and pretty much the whole menu!).

The food was not the authentic Kerala cuisine we expected. Both the restaurant’s name and the dishes were misleading in presenting it as an authentic Kerala restaurant. We traveled a long way hoping for genuine Kerala flavors but were unfortunately very disappointed. However, the service was exceptional, which is the only reason for the three-star rating.

We have been to The Cochin restaurant and had a perfect meal tonight. Food was delicious. Staff were super friendly and polite. My personal favourite is Sea food platter. I would love to have this again. One of the best Indian restaurants in Bedford
