Our experience from the start was poor. Took an age for the member of staff at reception to look up and acknowledge us. We booked through a third party for a room for 2 adults and a teenager. We were given a simple double room. When we flagged this, we were told that they would put in a z bed. This was not fit for purpose. My poor child spent the night either sleeping at an angle or on the floor, as a slight move and the legs would collapse.
Lighting in the room was poor and you couldn’t open the curtains, if you did, you were viewed by all!
Breakfast was terrible. Not topped up quick enough. I had a feast of 12 baked beans. There are lots of staff, but they aren’t being managed efficiently.
Check out carried on the theme… no staff to complain to, just a box to put your key in. I guess they have your money, they don’t really care whether the high cost was worth it or not….. on this occasion… over £250 for a room was not worth it.
We stayed at the kingfisher for my sister’s 40th birthday. We had a dinner reservation in the evening and the service was excellent. We had some dairy and gluten dietary requirements which our server and the restaurant were great at accommodating for. The team made sure we had a great evening. We also had a great breakfast there in the morning. The waterfront location was beautiful and the rooms were really comfortable. We would definitely stay again and recommend to others.
Great food, great service.

Had a very disappointing experience in the restaurant today. Normally the food and service is fantastic but today it was awful. The chicken was raw the rest of the food was cold, when I explained to our server she came back and said the chef said the chicken was cooked it was fleshy because it was chicken shoulder meat, our server was very rude and stroppy, there was no apology for our experience. I was very pleasant with them but the service and food was disgusting. They have lost a loyal customer today. Customer service doesn't exist there anymore. I wouldn't give it any stars.
Food was really disappointing. Pork belly was bland, dry and unpleasant to eat, Salmon on toast was underwhelming. Left feeling hungry. The place itself is beautiful but I wouldn’t recommend if you want to have a good meal.

We had a lovely stay at the hotel, with drinks at the Jetty Bar which is really relaxed and laid back, then dinner in the restaurant and breakfast in the morning. The room was a good size, very quiet and comfortable, the service was excellent throughout and very friendly, so we were made to feel at home. One little issue but that was caused by me and the hotel sorted it straight away! Would definitely recommend, if you need to stay in or around Bedford.

I decided to try the Sunday Lunch. Roast beef at £21.
I was given a choice of how I wanted the beef cooked and it was tender. Vegetables were well cooked and tasty.
However, the food could have been much hotter. Any colder and I would have sent it back. I think there could have been more quantity for the price. Just 2 roast spuds and only a small amount of gravy. The yorkshire pudding was vastly overcooked and dry to the point of inedible. In all I would agree with what the other reviewers have said. Also not happy about the service charge that was not mentioned anywhere on the menu or website. Overall just about scrapes 3 stars.
