Description

Opened in Aug 2019 by Rosanna Heasman. Ro opened The Store as a sustainable business, aiming to have a positive impact on our local environment, community and economy. Realising we need to take urgent action towards building a better and more sustainable future, The Store opened as a way to help people reduce their everyday waste at home.

The Store is a small, independent shop that focuses on doing business better. Business that better for people and better for the planet.

The Store sells a range of staple foods loose and in bulk, as well as offering refills on cleaning liquids and shower products. Buying loose saves countless amounts of unnecessary plastic packaging from being manufactured, thrown away and going to landfill, as well as giving us an opportunity to reuse what we have and refill!

The Store also stocks a range of eco-homeware and gifts from a range of Bedfordshire based businesses and makers to support our local economy.

Amazing zero waste store with lots of products and super friendly staff who are so knowledgable and very happy to help. Been going for years and especially love the peanut butter machine! Also regularly get refills of Bedfordshire honey (very delicious), gluten free soya sauce, hair products, house cleaning products, plus other things including yummy snacks! There is such a wide variety of good quality products, it’s a real treasure to have this in Bedford, do go and visit if you haven’t been before!

Amazing refil store! I have been visiting this shop every few months for years now because the items they sell and such good quality. The food is delicious and the cleaning products work brilliantly. The range of items is fantastic. My personal favourites are the fajita spice (Mexican night has never been the same since), peanut butter and cleaning white vinegar (we use it for cleaning everything!) Al items are reasonably priced, especially when you realise how high the quality is of these products. It feels great to be able to shop without the single use plastic. I usually get so much every trip that it takes 2 trips to the car with the weight of the bags! All the staff are so friendly, always a pleasure to come shopping here.

I'm a regular at the Store and get a lot of dry goods there. It's good to know I can buy organic and help de-plasticise. And Rosanna and her staff are always friendly. Last Friday I bought a medium Kind Bag rucksack in black. It had its first outing on Saturday on a trip into London. It fits perfectly, is really comfortable and was just the right size to carry everything I needed for the day.
