This is the nicest hotel in Bedford (tied with The Embankment, IMO; Swan has the spa and Embankment has the better food) and is what I would recommend for visitors seeking a bit more luxury. I use the onsite spa as they have a £20/hour deal, which you can follow up with a meal in their stunning restaurant. The food is very good, the decor is grandiose, the rooms are beautiful (based on friends' feedback), it is kid-friendly and the staff are very attentive. There is parking and its location is as central as you can get.
I particularly like coming here for brunch in the summer, when you sit on their outside terrace and watch the world, and the river, go by.
A charming high tea in the Brasserie, overlooking the river. Friendly and attentive team. A good find.

Not far from the station. It's a very nice hotel. The decor is varied depending on where you lounge, breakfast was brilliant and the rooms are atmospheric and beautiful.

Great Hotel, rooms are super comfy and the interior design of the common area is so nice. Breakfast could be a bit more continental, for those who might not like English breakfast or cereals and jogurt, but enjoyed it.
My daughter and I attended a complimentary 2 hour thermal spa session that I won at the Bedford River Festival. It was an amazing experience having never been to a spa in our lives before. Such a relaxing and friendly environment. Staff were incredibly helpful and I will definitely be booking to go again, still enjoying the relaxed effects 2 days later. Great for calming a busy mind and soaking away the stresses of life for a couple of hours.
They refuse to clean your room every day! They only do your room every other day?! I had to change my own sheets seeing as my pillow cases were dirty. The AC didn't work. The wifi didn't work. They make you pay for breakfast before you sit down to eat, like literally harass you though! If you didn't pre book they charge you an extra £1! The kitchen was broken 1 morning yet I was still charged for breakfast. The rooms are very loud, I had to change mine TWICE! They offer you smoked salmon items like cream cheese bagels and eggs Royale yet they try and pawn you off with poached salmon instead! The deputy manager was full of attitude and incredibly chippy. I could go on and on, they really are a terrible hotel. Do NOT stay here. Go to the Embankment down the road, they are SO much better. The Swan is absolutely shocking. It's real life Faulty Towers. You've been warned

Had a wonderful time here! Had a spa break and stayed over night with a meal at the restaurant here called Penn and Cobb. Old style hotel with real character. Food was fantastic and even gave us some complimentary champagne for our anniversary. Service and room was top notch. Highly recommended!
