Hello, I’m John The Ampthill Alchemist,

I live in the beautiful Georgian market town of Ampthill with my husband and two little dogs.​

Like many people, in the pandemic I was made redundant and whilst it was unfortunate, I’m a firm believer that everything happens for a reason. Having worked in travel for such a long time (23 years), I’ve always wanted to do something more creative than sit behind a desk and so I decided to set up The Ampthill Alchemist, selling handmade home fragrances. One of the things that led me to decide on home fragrances is because I always have a candle burning and understand how much a scent changes the ambience of a space.
