Description

The Embankment has become one of the premier spots in the heart of Bedford. The clue to our location is in the name! Bedford’s beautifully-landscaped Embankment has wonderful views out over the River Great Ouse. The Embankment Hotel was built in 1891 and we renovated it to reflect its late-Victorian heyday, but with all the modern comforts and facilities of a great pub. The atmosphere is relaxed and hospitable. There is no stuffy hotel lobby or residents’ lounge, just a team of friendly faces to look after you.

This is just one of numerous visits over the last three years and im sure there will be many more The staff are lovely, very friendly and extremely helpful. The food is amazing, plenty of choice, always presented well and tastes great. Plenty for every appetite, sometimes we've just had starters but today it was pie 🥧 and the fish 🐟 n chips All top notch Beautiful well cared for surroundings too Five bigs stars from us ☀️☀️☀️☀️☀️

Only came for breakfast, paid well over the odds for low quality food. The portions arent very good and the ingredients also not amazing. Stay away from the smoothies. They are pre packaged bottles for £5 which you can get for well under half price in a shop. Wasn't impressed at all.

Started badly because there was no member of staff to show us to our reserved table. I eventually got the attention of one waitress and she showed us to our table. Had to ask her to wipe it because it was filthy. Don’t know what was on her cloth but for the rest of the evening the entire table was sticky. Service after that varied between quite good and non-existent. We gave up trying to get a menu for desserts and went home instead. Food was mostly good but chips were not that great. Menu seemed more suited to winter - quite heavy offerings for summertime.

I had a lovely experience at the Embankment Bedford. The location is superb and has a lovely view of the river Ouse to take in a leisurely walk. The bar services- smiles and friendly faces with great selections of tea, coffee, beers, wines and cocktails just to mention a few. Very dog friendly and you are sure to see one or two including little Charlie's friendly face. I stayed in room 207 overlooking part garden and was very clean and comfortable with double bed, wardrobe with door, desk and chair. Quality tea, coffee and biscuits and the window opens. Generous sized bathroom with box shower. Toiletries provided. Iron and hairdryer provided and spare pillows. Hook for hanging a coat near the door. The hardworking staff are very friendly and helpful. Highly recommend for your next visit to the Bedford area.
