Went for breakfast, party of four.
Staff friendly enough but if took approximately 50 minutes (with no explanation or apology) for food to arrive.
Pancakes were pancakes, nothing special.
Wild mushrooms looked like they had escaped from a tin and only served to make the toast soggy! Added halloumi which, regardless as to the description, did not even see the grill!
Full English sausage was nice; bacon nice but overdone; poached eggs acceptable. But as an overall meal very underwhelming!
Plenty of other places to be explored.
Unfortunately, this was a disappointing experience from start to finish. The food was terrible — bland, overcooked, and definitely not worth the price. The customer service was just as bad: unwelcoming and inattentive. The drinks were awful, and to top it off, they don’t even offer to-go boxes. Definitely wouldn’t recommend or return.
The setting is lovely, but do not waste your money on food. The quality of it has gone down rather dramatically!

Restaurant and staff are lovely, very welcoming and attentive.
Only issue was we had to wait ages for our food and everyone’s (3 adults/3 kids) came out at different times. The waiters/waitresses were very apologetic and we were kept informed which was good.
Was late on a Sunday afternoon, not very busy so felt a bit disappointed that there was a wait as it ruined the experience for us.
However the food was decent; fantastic meat, veg was cooked well and the kids enjoyed their food…
We were offered free desserts due to the wait time with our mains that we decided to take home which were delicious.
Overall it was nice but the wait times were a bit long for my liking.
We had high expectations for The Embankment, especially given its stellar reputation and unbeatable riverside location. On a gorgeous sunny day, we were eager to unwind and enjoy a lovely Saturday evening. Unfortunately, our experience was far from what we anticipated.
While the pub's setting is undeniably beautiful, the food left much to be desired. The dishes were overpriced for the quality, which was frankly disappointing given the hype. To make matters worse, the menu options were limited and not up to the standard one would expect from a place with such a reputation.
Service was another major letdown. The staff seemed overwhelmed and lacked attentiveness, resulting in long waits and a lack of basic courtesy. It felt as if they were simply going through the motions rather than genuinely caring about the guests’ experience.
Overall, what could have been a perfect summer evening by the river turned into a frustrating experience. If you're after a scenic spot, it’s worth visiting, but don’t expect great food or attentive service. I left feeling utterly disappointed and unlikely to return soon.
